JAN 2013

So here we are 2013 and lots of things in the pipeline.  My various visits to open mike slots at Festivals are finally paying off,  with invitations for main stage appearances at Priddy, Trowbridge and Towersey.  Considering Im not really a ‘folk’ musician  I’m quite flattered really.  Since moving to Box just outside Bath a few years ago I have immeresed myself in various activities in the area and hopefully contributing what I can to the local scene. My thanks to Rob Bozas who's Real World connections have meant involvement in exciting projects.  Also my link with the Pound Arts Centre has resulted in working with the Rural Touring Scheme.  Playing to well attended local  village halls is such a joy for myself and the band, as many of you know I’m a bit of a shack fan and performing in many of these wooden halls is so much fun.

My lap steel home build project will be picked up again upon my return from Goa where Im off to re-charge my batteries, fullfill some ‘extreme’ shack gigs and prepare myself for my upcoming tuition series for weissenborn and lap steel.

Do keep a check on my gig page if you’d like to see some live events,  I have to say Im a very lucky man to still be able to be performing and enjoying more than ever the chance to see all my fans and friends ( virtually the same really ! )  The trio and quartet featuring John Broomhall, Mick Candler, Gary Rudd and David Hatfield are helping my exposure to new audiences, plus the Shackdusters, my duo with Gary Rudd continues to forge new paths for both my songwriting and lap steel playing.

Finally, this is my 30 th anniversary year of releasing albums and Im really going to make a huge effort to mark the occasion with a new vocal album release this year. I have eleven under my belt and I am very proud of every single one of them, I’ll strive to ensure my next will provide me with just as much pleasure in releasing.  Will catch up again in spring,  thanks for all your support and encouragement last year.
